Southampton 2024 - Harbour tours and a walk along the coast (Day 3)

Last time we went on holiday to Southampton, we visited the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. As part of purchasing the ultimate explorer ticket you are entitled to revisit any of the attractions within 12 months. We made the most of this opportunity by going back to enjoy another Harbour Tour , which is a boat trip around the dockyard with an opportunity to see the Royal Navy Ships that are in the dock. We were lucky enough to visit when the Prince of Wales was in dock, and we also saw HMS Dragon and HMS Severn.  After our boat trip, we decided to go for a walk along the Millenium Promenade, from the Historic Dockyard to Southsea. When we were there, it was coming up to the D-Day 80 celebrations so Southsea was being set up for the big concert, which was an exciting thing to see. The walk takes you along the historic walls of Portsmouth, through Clarence Pier and past Southsea Common. It offers great views of the Solent, including over towards the Isle of Wight. Southampton 2024 - A tour of National Trust properties (Day 1 & 2)

Once again, we are writing about our holiday down to Nicole's family. This one was scheduled in as we had tickets booked for the theatre later in the week, but we also enjoyed a holiday in a holiday. As per usual, we made a stop at a National Trust property on the way down to Southampton. This time we chose Packwood House , which is a small tudor house and garden in Warwickshire. The house itself was very dark inside but worth a look around, and the grounds were perfect for a short walk to break up our travelling. We also enjoyed some lunch in the cafe which is always delicious!  On the second of our holiday, we ventured to a National Trust property once again (can you tell that we are trying to make the most of our membership?!). This time it was Hinton Ampner , which is in Hampshire. This is a grand house with wonderful views across the South Downs.
